A special thanks to all of the extraordinary artists that I have had the good fortune to meet in the workshops over the years. It is a fantastic journey and I am grateful! - Marty Brens
Since 1990, we've been offering fine art instruction through plein air and studio workshops in a variety of locations. Artists may choose an all-inclusive package in a Premium workshop retreat; or a workshop in which the participants are responsible for their own lodging and meals.

Rusted Poppy Inn, Pueblo, CO
Intermediate to advanced
Michelle believes that the most important part of a painting is what the artist has to say. This workshop will focus on the intuitive side of the painting process; students will be encouraged to paint very quickly from a live model in the morning, and from photos taken of the model in the afternoon; longer poses, larger canvas. We will do exercises on using color, composition and brushstrokes to add a dimension of expression to your work. This workshop will be basically taught in studio, however if everyone is interested we may paint a morning in the gardens at the Rusted Poppy Inn with the model in natural light. This is more of an intermediate class, you will need to have some drawing skills and be somewhat familiar with your medium. All mediums are welcome, however, Michelle will be instructing in oil. Bring your paint and lots of enthusiasm.
