About

A special thanks to all of the extraordinary artists that I have had the good fortune to meet in the workshops over the years. It is a fantastic journey and I am grateful! - Marty Brens

Since 1990, we've been offering fine art instruction through plein air and studio workshops in a variety of locations. Artists may choose an all-inclusive package in a Premium workshop retreat; or a workshop in which the participants are responsible for their own lodging and meals.

PUEBLO

The quaint city of Pueblo has been called “a hidden gem”. Pueblo is located in southeastern Colorado. About an hour and a half drive from Denver and a three hour drive from Taos, New Mexico, Pueblo is a smaller city but large enough to have all the amenities of a bigger city. The climate is enjoyable year round with long spring and fall seasons.  Located between rivers and mountains Pueblo also offers visitors a wide variety of scenic beauty.

Pueblo is undergoing a Bohemian renaissance, becoming a haven for internationally-known artists. Pueblo's visual arts scene is growing rapidly with many new art galleries and a wide variety or restaurants with different cultural cuisines.  The historic downtown district with the new River Walk offers unique architectural interest, as well as being a great location to take a walk or sit and have a good coffee.

In Studio workshops will be held at the Studio (see maps)

Plein Air workshops will be based out of the Rusted Poppy Inn.  This is where we will meet each morning if you are not staying at the Inn.  We will then go out to various locations to paint.  Locations will be hand picked for convenience and variety of subject matter, and near by to avoid any distance driving.

Accommodations;  Students may opt to stay at the lovely newly renovated Rusted Poppy Inn or the Springhill Suites by Marriott.  Arrangements have been made for your visit.  Mention Art in the Aspens to ensure your room with the class.  The Inn has very few rooms so reservations will be first come first served. Once the Inn is full students must stay at the Springhill Suites by Marriott.  If you need help deciding on another lodging option within your budget Call Marty; 719 545-2795

Rooms at the Rusted Poppy; prices will differ depending on your room selection.

Travel Options;  The drive from Denver is about an hour and a half, 114 miles, and an hour and forty five minutes from Denver International Airport.   Students flying in may also choose to fly into Colorado Springs airport only ½ hour north of Pueblo.  Most major airlines fly into this airport.
