Painting with Purpose

This class will focus on the necessity of understanding the technical aspects (drawing, composition, and color) of painting in order to communicate ones own expression most effectively.

This workshop is designed to work with what the student is already comfortable with in terms of subject matter and materials.

The workshop starts off with a brief critique of each student's current work to pinpoint each person's weaknesses and strengths so that Jill can then focus each of their specific needs. Each day will start off with a short discussion on the "topic of the day." We will then spend the morning sketching and painting the local scenery outside with exercises relating to the discussion. In the afternoon we will take the mornings work back to the studio to further explore either by creating an entirely new work or by continuing on the same canvas. If you work from photos, please bring photos to work from.

Daily activities will also include demonstrations and critiques.

Please bring 5-10 samples of your best work, photos or the real thing.
